"The Making of the New Film
Empress of Texas"
A film about the life of
Miss Ima Hogg, A Texas Icon

Featuring Filmmakers & Screenwriters

Carole Harrington & Natasha Fissiak

Filmmakers and screenwriters, Carole Harrington and Natasha Fissiak, have uncovered fascinating facts about "Miss Ima Hogg" that will be new to many people.  Ima Hogg was indeed an amazing woman for her time. When women could not vote, she did not let that and other barriers stop her from forging ahead.  She was fortunate to have a progressive father and a mother who gave her the love and passion for music that drove her to establish the Houston Symphony.  Join us to celebrate International Women’s Day when Carole, the producer and Natasha, the film’s director, reveal more about this extraordinary woman who created a worldwide legacy.

Carole Harrington is a co-writer/producer of Empress of Texas, her most recent feature film project.  She has written and produced both documentaries and feature films and was co-founder of the Film Program at Houston Community College, now in its 10th year of producing professionals for the film industry.

Carole has a total of 30 years’ experience in business, fund-raising, education, advertising, journalism and film.  She has written for Parade magazine, the Houston Chronicle and numerous film/documentary projects, as well as developing and producing a television news show, Today and Tomorrow.

She has served as an associate vice chancellor of communications for Houston Community College, as president and CEO of The Living Bank and as a writer at the Houston Chronicle, producing more than 600 feature articles.   As a pioneer, she was the first woman to sit on the Editorial Page of the Houston Chronicle.  She also conceived and was a founder of Avondale House for Autistic Children, now in its 35th year of operation serving more than 160 children and adults.

Carole has a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s in psychology.

Natasha Fissiak is a writer/producer and will direct Empress of Texas.  Natasha has 14 years of combined experience in business, music and film production and has completed more than a dozen short films, documentaries and music videos.  She just finished editing her latest film “Dissonance,” which had a private screening at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2012 and was submitted to the 2012 Cannes Film Festival.

Her films have been recognized at many film festivals, including the 2011 Texas International Film Festival, Interrobang Film Festival and the 24-Hour Film Festivals.

Natasha also has a strong fiscal background, having earned a degree in business from Southern Methodist University and having worked for seven years at Deloitte and Touche, a big four accounting firm, before entering filmmaking.

In addition, she has a degree in piano performance. It was her idea and passion that launched Empress of Texas.
